Seventeen houses were gutted by fire believed caused by unattended lighted candles in the cities of Bacolod and San Carlos, Negros Occidental, Tuesday night that left about P1.1 million in damage to properties.

San Carlos City fire marshal Senior Fire Officer 4 Jonathan Badel Jr. said they were informed through two-way radio at about 7:15 p.m. that fire had broken out at Sitio Talave in Brgy. Punaw.

IF the problems in the United States spill over to the Philippines, the country may suffer from a severe food shortage although regulators say there is a law that prevents the possibility.

The United States is agonizing over which gets preference: more food or cheap fuel. Unfortunately, the bulk of the fuel substitute comes from food.

A new city hospital worth P150 million is set to rise at Hda. Sta. Ana, Brgy. Palampas. Groundbreaking rites were already conducted last Dec. 8.

City PIO staff Noel Mondragon said the first phase of the project includes the construction of an emergency room, pharmacy, administrative office, clinical laboratories, admitting section, out-patient department, doctors’ offices, among others.

THE official 25-member lineup of the Little Azkals who will be going to Italy next year for a one month summer training camp will be determined during the mini camp from Dec. 16 to 22 in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.

Head coach Oliver Colina said the mini camp is the last activity for the Little Azkals this year.

“After this I have to evaluate all the players and I have to select the players who will be going to Italy by April next year,” Colina said.
